Semisi Mougavalu – SCC Student Mentor (Current 2020) T-BAG Award 2016

 Fakaalofa lahi atu

My name is Semisi Mougavalu I am 18 years of age and of Niuean descent. I am the third eldest out of 7 children and graduated Southern Cross Campus in 2019.

This year I will be attending UNITEC and begin studying a Bachelor in Architecture. While I was at school, I was part of Mau Academy where I was able to learn real life skills in the Creative Industries (Art and Architecture).

What inspires my work is how I am able to use my imagination and utilise all the new experiences I have been fortunate enough to be given. I am always keen to learn new skills whether it be software specific or hands on. For example using illustrator to render and accumulate my ideas, changing the settings of my colours to create depth in my work, to using Indesign to plan out my ideas and to present to the public or class key concepts. I am excited about what I am doing now because I know that the skills and confidence I got while at Southern Cross Campus will benefit me through my years of studying and the future.
